Frequently Asked Questions
So, what should I know firsthand about this?
Welcome to Equestria! Your character is now a new resident in the town of Ponyville, among others that have also wound up here. Adventures in Equestria takes place in the world of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic!
My character's a resident? Does that mean they're a pony now?
Yup! Well, most likely. There's a chance they could be any number of the creatures in Equestria! Ponies come in three types: Earth Ponies (no magic or flight), Unicorns (magical, with a horn on their forehead), and Pegasi (with wings for flight)! But they could also be a rabbit, or a squirrel, or a dragon! Or any animal that fits them. Don't worry, they'll still be able to talk and use things... just maybe not as easily as they could back home!
So this is a slice of life game, then?
Well, kinda. There's both adventure and slice-of-life elements to the game, so you can play whichever (or both)! If you just want some slice-of-life plotting and CR, there's always places to explore, homes to build, ponies to help out with their troubles. And friends to make!
If you're wanting the more adventurous side, the metaplot will fit the bill. There'll be mystery, magical explosions, and maybe possibly time travel!
Time travel!?
You'll see... :3
When in the MLP:FiM series does this game take place?
Right after Season 4! Lord Tirek was defeated, Princess Twilight took another trip to the human world to help Sunset and the others stop the Sirens from hatching their plan and has come back after the success of it, and a new threat is looming in the distance for Equestria in the form of Starlight Glimmer.
I really didn't like how Starlight was forgiven in canon! (Or another issue with the show)
Don't worry! Not everything Season 5 and onward will happen exactly like it did in the show. Your characters could help reshape how certain things happen. More evil plots might happen, Starlight might be reformed differently, or even not at all! The timeline branches off here, so look forward to some changes!
Do I need to watch MLP:FiM to understand how this game works or claim a character?
Nah. Most knowledge of the canon can be gleaned from a quick glance at the wiki! If you want some more info about the world, My Little Jamjar, which this game is something of a spiritual successor for, has a very detailed and good Setting page that has a map of Equestria and explanations of where everything is. I couldn't hope to write anything near as good as it, so please peruse it if you're curious about the setting! (Eventually I will write one to include the new areas that will appear too!)

So what's the power cap? Can my character come in with their powers, blow crap up, and cause general mayhem?
Your character can absolutely come in with their powers! But they'll be nerfed, and any instadeath or gigantic destruction powers will be either nullified or heavily nerfed. Instadeath powers will instead be limited to causing pain. Keep well in mind, however, that no matter how strong your powers may be, they will not match up to the magical power of the royalty in Equestria!
Also keep in mind that rampant misuse and abuse of power can result in your character having their powers removed by any of the royalty, if they deem you a threat to Equestria.
What about weapons? Magical weapons?
They can have their weapons, even ones that can be summoned to their side. Super Sentai-like morphing powers are allowed too. Just keep in mind that if your character was not a pony before, or isn't used to being one, using weapons and tools might be quite a bit harder until they learn how to do so as a pony!
Okay, cool! So they'll bring in all their clothes, their armada of weapons and airships--
Whooooa, whoa whoa. Cool your jets there, boss. Your character will only be able to bring what's on them when they arrive, as well as an item or two that's around them, if they are important to the character, such as a pet or a magical weapon. There's no hard limit, but we request that you try to limit brought items to three or four! Don't worry, they'll be able to regain items from home, too!
What about money?
They can bring some money in with them if they'd like, though they'll be converted into the local currency. Please don't go overboard with how much money they bring.
You mentioned pets...
So long as the pet isn't a character that could be claimed, it's perfectly alright to bring them along with your character. Keep in mind that they, too, will be converted into an Equestrian animal!

What are the limitations of our actions in Equestria? Is death allowed? Even... gasp... killing?
Characters can most certainly die, and will come back to life within a few days after disappearing from Equestria entirely. There's no explanation of why this happens, but an excess of deaths or causes of them may result in an intervention from the Princesses. And crimes and murder in general can and will result in IC consequences, so please keep this in mind before something like this happens!
What about pregnancy?
No. We're not going there. It doesn't happen to characters that come in. Anyone that's already pregnant will not be while in Equestria, but will be fine once they get back home.
What's the IC to OOC ratio?
One day! That is, 1 IC day is one OOC day!
How does communication work in Equestria?
Well, nopony is quite sure how it works, but it seems that a couple of mysterious characters arrived in Equestria with a strange new system, which was reverse engineered and mass-produced for each and everypony that wants one. It's a 'pocket mirror' system, and projects images of the pony talking to them through the mirror itself. Video isn't the only option, however, as it can do simply audio or even text. (Don't ask how it works. It just Does.)

So what types of characters can I claim?
Any type! OU, AU, CRAUs are allowed, OCs are allowed, even claiming characters that are native to this Equestria are allowed! (Claiming of the native Celestia or Luna must be cleared with me, as I will be NPCing them for the most part. But I could use some help with one of them...)
How many different types of one character are allowed?
Three. Only one Original Universe and only one Native of the same character can exist, but any number of Alternate Universe or CRAU versions can exist, up to the three version limit. Keep in mind that the three versions comprise of SN, OU, AU, and CRAU. So you can't have three AUs and one OU/SN. If a native character has three versions between OU/AUs and nobody's claimed the native one, it will remain as an NPC.
Can non-native versions of the Mane 6 use their elements?
It's not their Equestria, so, no. There'll be a chance for them to use something akin to their elements during critical moments, however.
What's the character limit? What about activity checks?
There is none! Just don't stretch yourself too thin, and keep your limits in mind. There's no activity check either, but there will be something of a check every couple of months to ensure everyone wants to keep their current characters. No actual activity is required, though.
How does canon updating work?
When you want to canon update your character, they'll vanish from Equestria for the span of 3-5 days. Once they come back, they'll have their update. And no, they won't have any memories of Equestria while they're updating, but they'll remember their time before the update once they get back, as well as their update memories.
What happens when I drop my character?
They disappear. If no time frame is specified of when they vanish, then they will vanish within 3 days unless a large plot hits, in which case they will vanish before it starts. If you ever want to re-claim your character, they can retain their previous memories or start over!
My character is a vampire, werewolf, robot, or other supernatural creature! Are they forced to deal with issues?
Vampires and werewolves keep their powers, but also have to deal with the same issues they dealt with in canon. So be wary of this!
As for robots, it's absolutely okay to be a robot pony! But if you're cruel
This FAQ section feels like it followed the same flow as My Little Jamjar's...
Oops, you got me! I wanted to make sure I covered as much info as I could, so I did indeed follow MLJ's FAQ to ensure my bases are all covered!
I have another question that wasn't covered here!
Feel free to ask in the comments! Questions and their answers may be added to the FAQ over time.
Also, I'm sorry that it looks so plain and disorganized. It'll be fixed up over time too.
